Profile

The chemical fibers and filaments sector, the first link in the Brazilian textile production chain, is part of the so-called "textile-chemical complex" and is characterized as an intensive industrial sector in the use of capital and raw materials, acting very strongly in research and development, which guarantees the use of technology in its products.

This industrial complex constitutes the core to which, in addition to the textile and clothing industry itself, segments of other complexes such as the agro-industrial, automotive, chemical and petrochemical industries are associated. The dynamics of the sector is given by the final market and the clothing industry appears as its largest single consumer, although, in recent years, products intended for domestic and industrial use have been gaining relevance.

Since the end of the 1960s, practically all types of synthetic fibers (polyamide, polyester, elastomeric and polyolefin) have been produced in Brazil, as well as artificial fibers (cellulose acetates), which are characterized by being originated from production processes that use renewable raw materials. In all cases, we can say that they have a level of quality comparable to those available in the international market.

Abrafas is committed to the best global practices and international ESG (Environment, Social and Governance) guidelines, proactively paving the way for a more competitive and sustainable business, whether in risk prevention or in mitigating potential impacts.

We believe that artificial and synthetic fibers and filaments are the solution for a more sustainable world, either because of their production processes that adopt the best practices of low environmental impact, or because of the facilities provided by easy care in the treatment of manufactured parts and the increasing possibilities of recycling and treatment of its post-consumer products.
